About Garrett Petticrew
Hey, thanks for showing up to learn more about me. I am Garrett Petticrew, and this is my corner of the internet where I share all the things I have learned and am learning about improving my life. And yours. Maybe.
So, about me.
For the Redditors out there. TL;DR: Bad habits make life miserable. Good habits make life wonderful. I can teach you if you will listen.
I have struggled with procrastination, ADHD, and anxiety for most of my life. In fact, I went undiagnosed of ADHD until I was 24 (I am 26 now). I found ways to do the minimum amount of work at the very last minute to stay afloat in school. I was able to grind my way through college on frequent last-minute bursts of effort resulting in mediocre grades. I hate the idea of being mediocre.
So when I graduated, charmed my way into a great job, I wanted things to change. I wanted to show off the work ethic I knew I had, and succeed. I didn’t. I failed miserably for several years.I couldn’t figure it out. Procrastination was an insurmountable wall that could not be overcome until a last minute act of desperation allowed me to (sometimes) get over it.
I couldn’t figure it out. Procrastination was an insurmountable wall that could not be overcome until a last minute act of desperation allowed me to (sometimes) get over it.
Eventually, I was so fed up I googled how to get over it. Then I started reading how to improve myself. I haven’t stopped reading since that day the things I have read have turned my life around.
To sum me up, I am just a guy who reads. A lot. Around 60 books a year.
Okay, what did reading have to do with it?
I read constantly to force myself to learn constantly. I like to challenge my personal beliefs, my knowledge, and my understanding of the world to continue to grow and expand myself as a human being. If you are interested in reading some of the same books as me, I have started a reading list of my favorite books on various topics.
You, my fellow reader, are here on this page to learn more about me? Ha, well me too! I built this site to publish my thoughts on life, learning, and self-improvement as a way to become more self-aware. The fact that other people want to read these thoughts too is an unreal experience.
Now I write for anyone willing and ready to learn about self-improvement that works. For anyone ready to take action and take control of their lives. Is that you?
Then I invite you to join me on a journey of learning, self-improvement, and the pursuit of happiness.
I hope you find something of value here, and if you do I would ask that you share it with your friends and family so that they might benefit from it as well.
If you would like to check me out elsewhere on the internet, the links below will send you in the right direction ;).
